How to upload maps to the workshop

A guide on how to upload your creations to the Steam workshop for others to download and play.

Uploading your map

Howdy fellow players!
Are you making maps? That's crawly!
Are you lot having problem uploading them? No worries!
Here's a guide to this simple process, in instance you need one:

Steps

  1. Make a map
    Sounds pretty obvious, doesn't it?
In any case, the map doesn't need to be finished, as you lot can hide it from the public while nonetheless being on the workshop. Only a small-scale note.
For those who are here and don't even know how to become to the editor: Correct-click Cobalt on your library and chose "Launch game editor" (Sorry if those aren't the exact words).

  2. Open the workshop popup
This can be done either by pressing Ctrl + West or going to the "File" menu and clicking on "Steam Workshop".
  3. Request a workshop ID
To do this, but printing the "Request workshop ID" button in the popup. This volition create an entry in the workshop for your map!

  4. Provide data and upload the map
One time you have a workshop ID for your map, it'south fourth dimension to actually upload the data for your map.
Start click on the "Edit Workshop Particular" button, then click on "Fetch Workshop Data".

Afterward that await a couple seconds and this window will testify upwards. In here you tin enter the title for the workshop entry & its clarification (not the map's, though for mine I provide the same) as well as tag it.
You can also chose who tin can meet your map in the workshop - remember to set it to "Public" in one case you're washed!

In the bottom half you tin provide a brief changelog on the update, but that's optional.
Below that in that location'southward a button named "Select preview...", which will open up upwardly a folder browser for you to select a preview thumbnail for the workshop and so people can quickly recognise your map.
The preview, if I'm not incorrect, should be square and 195px * 195px minimum.
Yous also accept a field in which y'all can blazon the absolute path to the preview epitome, if that'south easier for you.

After yous've filled all of that, hit the "Submit Workshop Information" button to kickoff your upload. This window will show up, make sure to click on "Yeah":

Afterwards you confirm the upload, the buttons will grey out for a little while, until this message shows up at the bottom of the screen. Success!

Once you're washed, click on the "Stop Editing Particular" button.
At present all that yous need to practise to play your map is become to the workshop, discover it, and subscribe to it! And so it will automatically bear witness up and update in the "Steam user maps" department of the BitSquid game version (the one that is not the editor, the "main game").

Calculation screenshots, video, and other info to your workshop entry

All this can be washed from within the workshop itself.
To become there, you tin press the "Open in Overlay" button in the Ctrl + West popup from the editor, but I recommend you that instead yous open up the workshop in your browser, since it's much, much easier to upload multiple files from in that location.

The following menu can be found in the sidebar. From there one it'southward all pretty straighforward so I don't think I need to explain anything.

Updating your map

Updating maps couldn't be more than elementary, both for the author and the users who have downloaded it.

As the author, simply open your map on the editor again, press Ctrl + W, "Edit Workshop Item", "Fetch Workshop Data", and so just modify things to your liking.
If you just want to update the map without modifying any workshop info, click on "Submit Workshop Data", await for it to finish, so click "Stop Editing Item". Done!

As a player, yous don't have to do anything at all! All maps you lot subscribe to get downloaded and updated automatically as the author uploads a new version.

Troubleshooting

For at present, this section is small. Any questions asked in the comments will be added here.

I'thousand uploading a new version of my map, merely when I open the game and play the map, it'south still an older version. How practice I set this?
This can happen when you save your map with a dissimilar proper name than it already had.
To fix this, await at the workshop ID of your map, and so go to documents\cobalt\workshop\maps\that ID. In in that location, erase all files.
Upload your map again and everything should be fine!

Cheers & notes

I'd similar to thank Oxeye for the fantastic job they've done, and for creating such a powerful editor assuasive for huge freedom and letting me make a ton of maps.
Also thanks for calculation some of my maps into the game!

If you take any question, desire to correct some mistake, or something else, please comment right abroad!
Hope this helped!
